Royal String Quartet plays Reich, Glass and Górecki
The internationally renowned Royal String Quartet has been one of the world's leading string quartet ensembles for over 25 years. With more than 20 award-winning CD recordings, two Fryderyk Awards and worldwide concert tours, the quartet has established a firm position in the music world.
To commemorate the outbreak of World War II 86 years ago, the ensemble presents a program featuring works by Steve Reich (Different Trains), Philip Glass (Mishima) and Henryk Mikołaj Górecki (String Quartet No.1 Already It Is Dusk), among others. All three compositions explore memory, identity and historical experiences - themes that are particularly relevant in this commemoration.
